The Carp Road Animal Hospital is equipped with Ultrasound capability! Some of our Ultrasound procedures are scheduled with a referral veterinarian here at our facility. Dr. Nigel Gumley and Dr. Shelley Hutchings, however, are experienced in using our Ultrasound machine for certain procedures, which we are happy to provide to you as a very valuable tool. The use of ultrasound allows us to obtain pictures of the inside of various organs, and to assess their function (unlike X-rays which only show us the outside and relative size of a organ or bone). Ultrasound is most useful for: -Heart disease of any kind -Evaluating abdominal masses, and the structure of organs (such as kidneys & liver) -Obtaining Ultrasound guided biopsies -Collection of fluid from body cavities -Pregnancy evaluation |
